A Mayor Who Listens, Leads, and Delivers

Mayor Smith worked with Centennial for months to start a project to revitalize the Milford Mall and drive in revenue for the City. He led the plans through Planning and Zoning, a project he will continue if elected.

The extended lease will help the outstanding Club to expand their capacity and focus on their mission to support the futures of Milford’s youth

Mayor Smith listened to concerns over a lack of security in City buildings, and delivered with updated equipment as well as introducing and putting into practice fire drills, CPR training, and active shooter drills.

Mayor Smith introduced an Open House at City Hall, welcome to all Milford Citizens, where they could learn about City Departments and what they do, and opportunities for volunteering on boards to increase inclusion and community involvement.

Budgets start and end with the Mayor. Working with department heads directly to ensure efficiencies and fiscally responsible choices was a top priority for Mayor Rich Smith. Under his leadership, the adopted city budget did not exceed 1.5%

One of the first things Rich did when he took office was bringing together the groups who run Milford’s food programs including the Health Department, Purple Pantry, and Milford Food 2 Kids, to ensure greater efficiencies for providing food to those in need.

Mayor Smith began a tradition to invite all City employees to a company picnic. This was to thank them for all of the hard work they do and show them that they are appreciated, as well as to just enjoy some time with friends and relax!

In recent weeks in the Summer of 2025, former Mayor Smith has been working with the Friends of Milford Animal Control to ensure pets whose owners pass away can and will remain outside cages to n hopes of being re-homed… This work also resulted in adopting two bonded young cats for the Smith household!
