About Mayor Rich:
Raised in Milford and a proud graduate of its public schools, I am deeply connected to the community I have always called home.
My educational journey began at Kay Avenue School, now known as West Shore Middle School, and continued at Jonathan Law High School. From there, I earned a degree with distinction from Yale University and pursued advanced studies in public policy at Trinity College.
I am blessed to share my life with my high school sweetheart, Michelle Morano. Together, we raised three daughters Rebecca, Melissa, and Meghan, and we now have an incredible son-in-law Aaron Sanner and two beautiful granddaughters, Madelyn and Naomi.
Milford is where I chose to spend my life. I did not stay here by accident or habit or convenience. I raised my family here and am now lucky to watch my granddaughters raised here, too. Milford is my foundation, my home, the place I am surrounded by family and life-long friends, the place I feel so fortunate and proud to be and to be a part of.
Milford has a spirit, a culture, and a life of its own. What also makes it so special, is that so many people in our community are engaged. They get involved in community organizations and boards and commissions and even in elective office. A real community is not a static thing. It is something we build and must nurture every day. It is only through the engagement of each of us, in our own way, that it continues to be the great city we know and love.
It was an honor to serve as Milford's 11th mayor, succeeding Mayor Benjamin Blake. When I was sworn in to complete his term on May 1, 2023, I realized, I had prepared my entire life to do this job; working with large organizations, managing complex budgets and providing leadership. I was prepared and excited to take on the job. I worked tirelessly to build a better Milford for our families, businesses, and future generations. So now, I am honored and humbled to have been elected as Milford’s 13th Mayor.
My professional career equipped me with valuable experience in leadership and strategic planning, having held executive positions at esteemed organizations including Dun & Bradstreet, The Hartford, MassMutual, PepsiCo, and AT&T. Through these roles, I learned how to implement process improvements, apply technology, and introduce efficiencies to drive down operating costs.
As your mayor, I am committed to fostering growth, enhancing our schools, supporting small businesses, and preserving the unique charm that makes Milford a special place to live and work.
There is so much to do together, and together we can ensure a brighter and more fiscally responsible future for our community.
Let the change be here. Let the change be now. Let the change be us.
